Griffins News · High School Winter Sports – Pushed Back

Griffin Nation,

The following message pertains DIRECTLY to HS Winter Sports ONLY.

During the Special Executive Board Meeting held today, December 18, 2020, on a motion made, seconded and carried the Executive Board approved the following recommendations from the AIA Staff regarding the winter sports season:

  • Delay the start of the winter season (GAMES) until January 18th. This gives two weeks after the winter break for schools to get back into hybrid or in-person learning. In addition, it shows that we respect the concerns made by the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.
  • Full seven (7) week season will occur with state playoffs to follow.
  • Delay the start of the spring season until March 1st.

We know many of you have questions or concerns. Please feel free to direct those concerns to Mr. Garrison at For now, we plan to continue to practice and get prepared for the seasons ahead. When the time comes to compete, Glendale Prep Athletics will be READY and EXCITED! Thank you for choosing GP Athletics and please enjoy the Holiday Season!

More updates will come at a later time.

Stay Positive. Stay Together.

Mr. Garrison
